Post Halloween through January can be a trying time on your health. For some reason, it seems easier to give in to the calls of the big orange pumpkin- I find myself sneaking a few too many Laffy Taffys, Snicker bars, Sweetarts and whatever else is lying around the house. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I realized its time to get myself back on track.
To start off on the right foot, I tried this great cleansing smoothie recipe this morning. And I have to admit, I feel fantastic. I’m now craving a yoga class instead of leftover Halloween candy. Maybe I need to start drinking one of these every day to fight the holiday weight gain. 
The Good Start Smoothie:
- 2 cups shredded kale
- 1 banana
- 1 tsp honey (or agave syrup)
- 1-2 tbsp hemp seed (flax would also work)
- 1/2 cup vanilla almond milk
Put all ingredients in a blender. Add ice. Blend until smooth and enjoy!

I have been having a smoothie in the afternoons this week. Spring mix, a pear, strawberries and water. It’s really good and I feel good about drinking it.
I also juice carrots every day. Forget the candy!

Wow. I gotta say I looove kale – it goes into just about every soup pot I make. And I’ve put a small leaf into the juicer once in a while. But this scares me, ha!
…Which is why I’m gonna go for it & give it a try!! : )
